The $275 million redevelopment of the Hyatt New Orleans is complete and the hotel officially opened for business on October 19th. A new grand entrance to the hotel now sits directly across Loyola Avenue from South Market. All 1,193 rooms and 53 suites in the 31-story building have been renovated with a modern and stylish flair. The hotel has introduced a 350-seat, full-service restaurant with private and semi-private dining rooms; 210-seat media/action bar with private and semi-private lounges; 70-seat atrium bar; 2,000sf coffee bar and 24-hour convenience store. In addition, the hotel now features 200,000sf of meeting and exhibition space, helping to capture hundreds of thousands of annual room nights that New Orleans has been losing as a result of not being able to accommodate mid-size conventions. The space includes ballrooms, exhibit areas, banquet and breakout rooms and executive conference facilities, creating a full service convention and event center right at the South Market District. Local celebrity Chef John Besh has opened Borgne, a new seafood restaurant on the hotel's ground floor, directly adjacent to South Market.
